The Crest depicts a conical glass, without base and of low content, created in the reign of Louis XIV and called a “Pomponne“. On either side there are three beads representing the three historic hillsides of the Ordre des Coteaux in the 17th century, namely Ay, Avenay and Hautvillers, where the "Marquis Friands" selected their preferred wines. These beads are bound by a peduncle reminiscent of the stalk of a bunch of grapes.
